  • A paragraph about “The Flipped Classroom.” Explain this instructional design in your own words.
  • A paragraph about open educational resources (OER).  Describe these resources in your own words.  Find a online resource (blog post about OER, examples of OER materials, an article about OER, etc.), provide a brief synopsis, and link it to your blog.
  • A paragraph on new skills you acquired from working on the two PowerPoint assignments. Reflect what you like/don’t like about each and how you can improve it next time. Post a screen shot of both assignments.

The Flipped Classroom is an instructional design that ultimately "flips" the traditional learning method. In this design, students learn the course material and do the readings while they are at home, and complete the homework/activities in the classroom. This gives students the opportunity to ask teachers any questions they made have when trying to complete the work. This learning method is only effective if the students take the initiative to do the course readings prior to arriving to the classroom.

Open educational resources are created and uploaded to the public and have been released under a license that allows them to be freely used, changed, or shared with others. They are available all throughout the web with a variety of subjects and teaching methods. Below is an example of one I found online that can be used in a middle school SPED class. Students will be able to demonstrate understanding of the concept of shooting a basketball in this lesson.

I enjoyed completed the two Powerpoint assignments because it helped me acquire skills that I will one day use in the classroom. I am interested in learning more about creating interactive presentations for my students. Using the voice behind my powerpoint can be extremely useful when sending lessons to students that missed class. I didn't like how the audio was extremely complicated when trying to do it from my Mac Computer.
