A paragraph about “The Flipped Classroom.” Explain this instructional design in your own words. A paragraph about open educational resources (OER).  Describe these resources in your own words.  Find a online resource (blog post about OER, examples of OER materials, an article about OER, etc.), provide a brief synopsis, and link it to your blog. A paragraph on new skills you acquired from working on the two PowerPoint assignments. Reflect what you like/don’t like about each and how you can improve it next time.  Post   a   screen   shot   of   both   assignments . The Flipped Classroom is an instructional design that ultimately "flips" the traditional learning method. In this design, students learn the course material and do the readings while they are at home, and complete the homework/activities in the classroom. This gives students the opportunity to ask teachers any questions they made have when trying to complete the work. This ...

A paragraph about how you think you will use data collection (surveys) and/or reporting (Excel) tools as a teacher. Be specific about your subject matter area and the grade level. A paragraph on topics you found most interesting from reviewing your classmates’ blogs. A paragraph on what technology-related skill you would like to learn next, why, and how you will achieve this goal. I feel like I would be using data collection and reporting tools as a teacher when doing grades for my students, or when trying to conduct a "first day of school survey". I would use Excel to keep tabs of whose assignments i've already graded, in order to not get anything lost. I would use surveys most likely on the first day of school to get to know each of my students and receive information that I should know such as dietary restrictions and health concerns. I can also use surveys at the end of the year to see what my students learned in my class. Some topics that I found most...

ILP #2- Participation-Webinar

https://voicethread.com/share/13401358/ For my ILP #2 assignment, I decided to attend a webinar speaking about recent technological advances in k-12 schools. Many believe that the implementation of technology into the curriculum will benefit many students, but many fear that the bandwidth capacity and teachers being able to teach students how to use it will be a problem. We must provide students with adequate internet connectivity in order to use this technology successfully.

A paragraph on the new skills you learned from working with Diigo.  How can this application be useful in your classroom, with team members, and in your individual professional efforts? A paragraph about how you might use PowerPoint to support student learning  at each level  of Bloom’s Taxonomy (Google it if you need help!) in a particular lesson. Be explicit. A paragraph about technology and teacher professional development.  Teachers are tasked with being the driving force of technology innovation in education -- which is directly related to professional development, how we stay aware of changes.  Post a screen shot, link, and description of one site you could use to stay informed of technology trends Some new skils that I learned from working with the Diigo application is annotating text and being able to see comments from my peers. I enjoyed using this specific tool because I can compare different parts of the text and how my peers interpreted it....

What influences teachers and students to use technology in the classroom? A paragraph in which you reflect on the ISTE standards for educators. Specifically cite 1 standard that is meaningful to you and 1 that seems outside your current skill set.  (Include an explanation). A paragraph on whether or not you agree with the label “digital native” for today’s youth. What does it mean to be a digital native? Have you seen differences between how you (digital native) and most of your teachers (digital immigrants) use technology? If so, describe them and what their impact has been on your learning experience. What differences do you anticipate between you and your future students in terms of how you use technology? I believe that teachers and students are influenced to use technology in the classroom because of all the modern tech gadgets that are being implemented in schools. Nowadays, whiteboards are being replaced with Promethean and Smart Boards. Teachers must be trained and ...

I chose to look at my high school's website because it was recently updated and looks super nice. The website was mainly public, with lots of information about the school, its history, and its faculty. The website is a high school that serves students grades 9th-12th, each grade level having their own site resource tab. The site does have a log in for students/parents, which is more for things such as logging into the student portal. https://www.miamiseniorhigh.org/ I plan to use technology in the future mainly to advance my research and knowledge as a Special Education Teacher, in order to best serve my students and the families I'll be working with. I would like to create a class site for my students in order to stay in contact and up to date with my students. I feel like this would be the best way to accomplish my goals efficiently because messages via message are sent directly and can be responded to by the tap of your finger. I also hope to use technolog...

I have enjoyed using Twitter in and out of the classroom, whether it is on my free time or for blogging purposes. I enjoy using twitter because it keeps me up to date with all kinds of news I wouldn’t have heard of, since I regularly don’t watch TV. Using Twitter can be very distracting at times when in class, but I enjoy the content and feed. I enjoy being up to date with educational events and the new pages I follow for this class.  I enjoyed completing the Web Page Design assignment because it gave me some input on what it’s going to be like trying to design a website for my future classroom. I enjoyed designing the layout and the deciding on a color scheme. It was a bit difficult since it was my first time, so i wish i had a bit more experience to make it more interactive. Overall I am excited to create a website for my future classroom and their parents.  I believe that additive and adaptive technologies are both beneficial for students of needing an extra tool to s...
